GETTING HERE & AROUND

Scotland's Highlands without the hassle

For a peaceful rural hostel, Comrie Croft is well served by public transport - to Crieff, Comrie and Perth at least. However remember that if you are travelling here from Glasgow, Edinburgh or further afield by public transport, connections can add significantly to the driving times and distances.

WALKING OR CYCLING

Comrie Croft is linked to Comrie by footpath - 2.5 miles, ask for details. We are also accessible on foot from Crieff - 5 miles. Approaching from the north is a roadless mountain area until you reach Loch Tay.

There are numerous relatively flat cycle routes, mostly on minor roads, plus exciting tracks and off-road routes, such as from Callander via Glen Artney, or Loch Turret via Fordie Lodge. We are also planning some exciting single track routes on our own land for mountain bikers. Ask for details.

We have good facilities for those on foot or bike.

CAR

Comrie Croft is just over an hour by road from Glasgow or Edinburgh. Set back from the A85 between Crieff (4.5 miles - from Crieff follow signs for the A85 towards Crianlarich) and Comrie (2 miles), the Croft is clearly signposted from the main road (200m). (Map to Comrie Croft)

CAR HIRE

For car hire we recommend Arnold Clark (www.arnoldclark.co.uk) who have branches throughout Scotland and offer cars from £23 per day and £138 per week. Most car hire companies charge an insurance excess of £500, but Arnold Clark's excess is only £100. To get the special Comrie Croft guest rate please quote reference: 6611117.

BUSES & COACHES

The Croft is served by up to 17 buses a day from Perth/Crieff/Comrie on Stagecoach route 15. Ask the driver for Comrie Croft. These connect with a variety of train, coach and other bus services to the north, east and south. To the west the no. 15 service continues to Loch Lomond National Park at St Fillans 5 times a day (except Sunday).

There is also a limited Citylink coach service (x2 daily Friday-Monday from June to October) from Perth connecting the Croft with Killin, Crianlarich, the West Highland Railway and Oban. This enables guests to connect to Callander, Fort William and Skye.

TRAINS

Our nearest train stations are Dunblane or Stirling to the South, Perth to the East and Crianlarich to the West (travel times to Comrie Croft). Asbwell as local and national services, there is an overnight sleeper to and from London.
